I was expecting them to be a bit like those hair curlers that girls used to use (and maybe still do) where you would wrap your hair round them and then twist to get it to stay there, so when I took them out of the packaging and that was exactly what they felt like I wasn’t surprised.

The spank ties are a simple design, they are basically a wire which is covered in soft foam with a plastic cap at each end to protect the user from any possible instances of the wire popping out through the foam and hurting the user.

We took them out of the cardboard packaging and twisted one together, I expected them to be quite easy to twist together but the wire inside the foam is actually quite stiff they take a little bit if manipulation to get them to twist together, once they are twisted together though they stay that way, they don’t unravel again.

Once we had twisted one together we tried it for spanking, and when twisted together and used for spanking they aren’t bad, they are clearly designed with beginners in mind and as such they don’t give much impact, make marks or really cause much pain, you can feel it but it is definitely on the lower end of the pain scale. I personally didn’t find that they had enough impact and would advise anyone who is into impact play and has experience of it to avoid these, they are however good for people who are new to it to allow them to experiment. You can bend these into all kinds of shapes to give slightly different sensations.

The other use for spank ties is supposed to be as restraints, it does say on the box that they are designed to be easy to escape out of so you are ‘never gonna be stuck’ but I found that no matter how they were twisted they were never tight enough or secure enough to be of any real use. I also found that even though the wire is covered with foam that when they are used around the wrists or ankles they are not very comfortable, and just having your partner twist them around you can be uncomfortable to.

Overall, I wasn’t very impressed with the spank ties, as ties they were pretty much useless, they easily slipped off and weren’t comfortable enough to be worn for any length of time, as an implement for spanking they fared slightly better, but even as spanking toys I would prefer something firmer and with more impact. The Spank Ties are designed with beginners in mind but I think that they have gone a little too simple and instead of ending up with something that could potentially be very good have ended up with something that is mediocre at best.
