Slave Collar from Mercury Design

I took a look and was surprised by the range and quality of the products that such a small company was able to offer and I agreed. I am based in the UK and they are based in the US so it did take a while for the collar to arrive for review.

It was worth it though as the slide show of pictures below should demonstrate.

Packaging
The slave collar was posted to me in a plain brown cardboard box, and protected during transit by some bubble wrap. The collar itself didn’t have any packaging or branding on it to show that it has come from Mercury BDSM Design, but there were a couple of cards in there to show where it had come from.

How it looks
How a collar looks is important, it’s as important I think as how it feels. The ‘o’ ring on the collar looks really nice, it is of a good quality and is positioned nicely. The ring is secured with a simple silver screw which has been cleverly leveled off at the back to stop it having any rough edges that may catch the skin when it is being worn.

The metal from the screw does come into contact with the skin when the collar is being worn, there isn’t any information to say whether this is a nickel free product or not so I would advise anyone who has a allergy to nickel (like me) to put some clear nail varnish over the screw before it is worn to protect your skin from having a reaction.

I usually find that I am ok when a product is new and if it is only worn for a short amount of time.

How it feels
This is the other really important part of any slave collar. The leather that the collar is made from feels really nice, it is smooth and warm to the touch.

There is selection of holes for the fasten to close with and this means that you can have it as tight or as loose as you want. The fasten sits nicely against the skin and as it is metal it is slightly cool to the touch initially.
The fasten on this collar is not lockable; this means that it can be easily removed by the wearer if necessary. If you prefer a lockable collar to ensure that your slave keeps their collar on for as long as you want then this is not for you.

The thickness of the collar is also nice, it is not to thick or thin, it allows for enough movement when worn for it not to feel too restrictive but as it is a slightly wider collar it doesn’t let you forget that it is there.
This is not a posture collar and allows for much more movement than a posture collar would.

During play?
This Slave Collar can be worn as a fashion item or during play.

It is not discreet like some fashion collars but as it is not lockable and quite comfortable it is practical to be worn for longer periods of time. It is equally good during BDSM play.

The ‘O’ ring is very secure and therefore it can be used as a point to attach restraints during BDSM play to ensure that your ‘slave’ it kept in the position that you want for as long as you want him/her there.

We found it to be a nice addition to role play.

Overall
I liked this slave collar a lot. It is made from good quality material and feels nice when it is being worn, plus it looks good!

The good news is that Mercury BDSM Design ship worldwide at reasonable rates so you are able to order your own from their great selection (some of which are made to measure) regardless of where you are in the world.
